Hello everyone! I know it’s been a while since I last posted, but something ridiculously awesome has motivated me to return to my blog. As a matter of fact, it’s the same movie that inspired me to start a blog in the first place, and that is Captain America: Civil War.
After teasing a “special announcement” that would be made on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the very first trailer for Captain America: Civil War has been released and just…wow. It is a doozy. Check out the trailer below!
In addition to the first trailer, the first posters for the movie (and there are a lot of them) can be found here!
My reaction
Oh my goodness. Oh my good golly gosh. There is so dang much in this trailer it’s actually kind of overwhelming. Playtime is OVER in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, folks! Overall, this is exactly the kind of trailer I wanted to see for this movie. When you’re doing a story like Civil War, you have to give it the kind of emotional weight it deserves, and this trailer absolutely delivers on that promise. What I like about the general tone of this trailer is that even though the movie features most of the Avengers cast, it still feels distinctly like a Captain America movie. But enough of my rambling. Let’s take a look at some of the key shots in the footage!
-Here we have Marvel being sneaky, as this trailer picks up RIGHT where Ant-Man’s post-credits scene left us.
-Another face returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross. The last we saw him was in 2009’s The Incredible Hulk.
-These papers, “The Sokovia Accords”, appear to be the inciting incident of this story, meaning that the events of Age of Ultron directly set up this movie. *Ahem*
-Cap’s not great at disguises. This getup looks a bit familiar…
-Here’s our first glimpse at Iron Man’s brand new armor. Also, the tension in this short little scene is brilliant.
-If you look to the right of this shot, you can see Martin Freeman’s character standing in a gray suit. Not many details here other than that.
-This is our first look at Chadwick Bozeman’s character, Black Panther. He’ll play a significant role in this movie before getting his own movie in 2018.
-This is an interesting shot, because there is speculation that someone will die in this movie. Like. Actually die. But if it was going to be Rhodey, I don’t think they’d give that away in the trailer…would they?
-“So was I.”
-Good grief this fight looks insane.
Like I said, there’s a ton of stuff to get excited about in this trailer. And the good news is that we don’t have to wait a whole year for this movie! Captain America: Civil War opens May 6, 2016.
